Chimps set to catch the treats at Zoo Nights
Wednesday 29 June 2011
Playful chimps at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo will be getting in on the action at Zoo Nights when the zoo opens late for one night only this Friday (1st July).
For the first time the chimpanzees will be taking the stage for their fun-filled activity Supermarket Sweep – when they get to catch tasty and favourite fruit treats. In addition, the zoo’s explainers will be on hand with a trolley-load of “shopping” to show what these popular primates will and won’t eat and to explain more about these engaging creatures.
Just like the chimps, visitors to Zoo Nights will get a rich variety of “treats” on offer during the evening with our barbecue and Spanish themed food stalls plus they can enjoy a cool, refreshing drink on the lawns.

Zoo Nights is packed with a schedule of free events and entertainment, including a sizzling performance by Luton Carnival band Rampage with their hot soca beats and the ever-popular finale show by fire-dancers Flame Oz.
Dusk demonstrations include Elephantastic! With the zoo’s herd of Asian elephants and a twilight splash show with the sealions. All the action is set in the 600 acre zoo as the sun sets over the beautiful Chiltern Hills.
