Bubbles's first day at school

Wednesday 25 May 2005

There is no such thing as half term at Whipsnade for our new sealion, Bubbles. She has just started training sessions at Sealion School and she is loving it!

Bubbles the sealion

Recently arrived from Welsh Mountain Zoo, Bubbles is the first new adult sealion to be introduced to the group for 17 years and she has been brought to Whipsnade to as part of a breeding programme to ensure genetic diversity in this species. Bubbles arrived in April and is getting along famously with our other sealions, Berkeley, Liz and Salt. She has taken to her training routine like a sealion to water and it won’t be long before she will be appearing in the daily sealion shows.

Visitors to Whipsnade will be able to watch Bubbles in action on her training sessions at 12.30pm and 3pm daily in the large outdoor pool. This is immediately after the sealion demonstrations at 12 noon and 2.30pm with an extra show at 4pm over the bank holiday weekend.
