Enjoy a Room with a Zoo…
All day long
Feeding time: 12:30pm
Enrichment: 4pm
A fine specimen of the genus Homo sapiens, more commonly referred to as human, will spend four days living in a custom built enclosure, within the grounds of ZSL London Zoo.
Room with a Zoo will give visitors the chance to learn about the devastating impact humans are having on animal populations worldwide because of encroachment on their habitats.
Designed to resemble a human’s natural habitat closely as possible, complete with an armchair, coffee table and, of course, a kettle, Room with a Zoo will allow visitors to study the unique behaviours of this common, yet strange, creature, whilst learning more about the effect it has on the Earth and the inhabitants it shares it with.
The inhabitant of Room with a Zoo will take part in a daily enrichment exercise, and will be given enrichment objects such as books, newspapers and playing cards to keep them mentally stimulated and to encourage their natural activities.
With access to both an indoor and outdoor area (including a deck chair to enjoy the bank holiday sunshine...) the human will be on show during feeding time and activity time, although they will be given full privacy when it comes to answering the call of nature…
Visitors to ZSL London Zoo will be able to see a Room with a Zoo and its inhabitant from Saturday 23rd May until Monday 25th May 2009. From Tuesday 26th May until Sunday 31st May, the public will have the chance to explore the inside of the exhibit and experience for themselves a Room with a Zoo.
