Indoor ZSL London Zoo Guide
We all love the sunshine, but it is not something you can guarantee in London all year round! Luckily, ZSL London Zoo is great whatever the weather is doing. With a number of indoor enclosures and animal houses - some which even transport you to tropical climates - read on to discover your ultimate guide to a rainy ZSL London Zoo.
Aquarium
The fish may be wet but you don’t have to be! Step inside the Aquarium and be submerged in an underwater world of exotic, beautiful and endangered fish including amazing coral reef displays.
Rainforest Life
Cold and rainy? How about hot and humid! Step in to the tropical heat of Rainforest Life and enter London’s only living rainforest. You will come face to face with a variety of amazing rainforest species including monkeys, sloth, armadillo and a tamandua anteater. Then head downstairs in to the Night Zone and see what the rainforest’s nocturnal animals get up to after dark.
Butterfly Paradise
This ‘walk through’ environment protects you and our array of exotic butterflies from the wet weather! Butterfly Paradise offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about life cycles, biodiversity and climate change while surrounded by the hundreds of butterflies chosen to represent the 100,000 species that exist on the planet.
Blackburn Pavilion
Enter a world of lush rainforest foliage and waterfalls, and catch flashes of colour from the vast array of beaks, wings, and feathers fluttering on display, with many free flying around this tropical home. Follow the boardwalk into the tropical walkthrough where the rainforest environment is recreated. The lofty Blackburn Pavilion provides an abundance of space for the birds to fly through the foliage; you will feel like you are meandering through the heart of the Amazon!
B.U.G.S.
B.U.G.S (Biodiversity Underpinning Global Survival) is the zoo’s cutting edge biodiversity and Conservation exhibit. It is also the main place where invertebrates – animals without backbones – are displayed in the zoo, including insects, spiders, millipedes etc.
Reptile House
Last stop on the ZSL London Zoo winter weather guide is the Reptile House , dating all the way back to 1926. Enter the Reptile House to find our amazing collection of reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, lizards, frogs and crocodiles!
