ZSL 180th Anniversary Gala

Thursday 31 August 2006

The Zoological Society of London will be celebrating its 180th anniversary this year with a glitzy gala held at ZSL London Zoo.

Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, will be attending the bash and TV personality Gail Porter has already confirmed her place at the event.

The African-themed ZSL Anniversary Gala is being held to support our gorilla conservation work in Africa and celebrate the forthcoming Gorilla Kingdom Exhibit at ZSL London Zoo.

It will be the first time in years that the Society has opened its gates to host an exclusive black-tie evening and guests will go Into Africa for a champagne reception and close-up animal encounters before enjoying a three-course meal served in a unique African rainforest setting.

A live fundraising auction will give guests the opportunity to bid for priceless experiences including the chance to name a zoo baby, a behind-the-scenes safari at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo or to have themselves caricatured as their favourite animal by newspaper cartoonist Martin Rowson.

Tickets to the ZSL Anniversary Gala on September 21st cost £250 each.
