Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

The animals at ZSL London Zoo were really chilling out today… in the snow! As a blanket of snow descended on the zoo some of our animals could be seen out and about investigating.

Baby meerkats born in August had a nose around their new white enclosure before sensibly hopping back up to one of their heat lamps to observe from a safe distance. Our four red river hogs spent some time investigating the snow with their snouts before returning to their inside den for a kip.
But visitors to the zoo expecting to see our penguins reveling in the winter weather would have been disappointed. Our black-footed penguins are from South Africa and wisely decided to stay inside their nesting boxes until it all melted.
