The British 10k Run is fast approaching, but ZSL still has a few places left for anyone who wants to run the distance for conservation.
On Sunday 12th July, over 20,000 runners will be taking part in the race around town, taking in the sights of London such as the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. ZSL has reserved 24 places for the event and is looking for willing runners to pledge their miles for conservation.
ZSL is asking for a minimum pledge of £150, and is offering some animal-inspired incentives to those who plan to go the distance. Participants who raise over £500 for ZSL will receive a family ticket to ZSL London Zoo, whilst an exciting ‘behind the scenes’ experience awaits those who collect over £1,000.
Founded in 1826, the Zoological Society of London is an international scientific, conservation and education charity. The society maintains active field conservation projects around the world, carries out scientific research in the Institute of Zoology and runs both ZSL London and Whipsnade Zoos. All money raised by runners will be used to fund the conservation work of the Society.
ZSL’s British 10k coordinator Lucy Cannock says: “I’m really excited about this year’s run, and ZSL is offering some great experiences – a great day out at ZSL London Zoo, or an exclusive chance to go behind the scenes – to give the runners some extra encouragement”.
