Facebook pics are hit for Zookeeper
Monday 19 November 2012
With a job that’s less staring at a PC monitor and more prepping lunch for a monitor lizard, one man’s workplace photos are certainly proving a hit on facebook – and there’s not a printer cartridge in sight.
Grant Kother, a keeper in the Zoo’s iconic Reptile House and brand new Amphibians exhibit, has amassed a stunning image collection of the creatures in his care - in an album simply entitled ‘Work’.
From candid shots of sunbathing basilisks to Komodo dragon close-ups, the images, released for the first time today, show not only his flair for photography, but highlight just how different his ‘office’ is from that which most would recognise.
The photos have attracted hundreds of ‘likes’ and comments from envious acquaintances around the world, and the herpetologist has been blown away by the reactions: “I take lots of photos for fun at work, and it’s brilliant to see how much people like them - especially as I have so many friends and family overseas.

“Working at ZSL London Zoo is no ordinary nine-to-five and with so many amazing projects going on, I want to make sure I capture as many moments as possible and show off the cool stuff I do!”
Emma Taylor, manager of ZSL London and Whipsnade Zoo’s Photography Workshops added: “Grant’s pictures are a fantastic example of what makes wildlife photography so fun and exciting – not to mention that they make us all incredibly jealous of his job!”
