Brush up your Knowledge of the wild
Friday 16 March 2007
Straight past the giraffes, left at the otters and a quick shortcut past the kangaroos…not your typical journey across London.
But every year thousands of tourists arrive at the gates of ZSL London Zoo by cab to navigate the vast 36 acre site to see hundreds of species of animal from lions to lemurs.
Recognising how important Black Cab drivers in London are to the capital’s tourist trade, the Zoo is offering cabbies the chance to brush up their animal knowledge at ZSL London Zoo for free between May 11th and May 14th this year.
Cab drivers who present their licenses at the gate can come into ZSL London Zoo with their families and enjoy a well-earned day away from the hustle and bustle of London’s roads.
Get breathtakingly close to a colony of western lowland gorillas in our brand new Gorilla Kingdom exhibit. Opening at the end of March, this will bring the serenity of the African rainforest to the heart of London and bring visitors up close to these incredible animals.
Come face-to-face with a pack of African hunting dogs and eye-to-eye with a giraffe as you travel Into Africa, before taking a trip through Butterfly Paradise where beautiful brightly coloured butterflies flit around in a tropical oasis.
Say hello to our cheeky squirrel monkeys at close quarters as you go into their world to Meet the Monkeys and don’t forget to pop in on our troupe of penguins hanging out by their pool.
