- However, it is only the female reindeer which have antlers over the Christmas period
- Reindeer are thought to be able to see ultraviolet light which helps them see better in the Arctic landscape
Chilling out in winter
Reindeer love winter at the Zoo. Reindeer originate from the Arctic and Subarctic so they are at home in the chill. Not only do reindeers have two layers of fur but it is also made up of hollow hairs which fill with air, acting as insulators.
