Meet the capital's family of Asian lions at ZSL London Zoo.
Lion cubs for 2011
Two female cubs joined our Asian lion cub family at ZSL London Zoo in August 2011. Named Heidi and Indi, the two cubs stayed inside with their mum for the first few weeks before venturing outside for the first time.
Amazing footage of lion cub birth
Keepers managed to catch exclusive footage of Abi the lioness giving birth to the two newest additions to our lion cub family.
- The Asian lion was the lion of the bible and Roman arenas
- It used to range from Greece, across the Middle East to India, but persecution has virtually wiped it out
- Fewer than 300 Asian lions remain in the wild and captive breeding is key to their survival
Lucifer - what's in a name?
Lucifer got his fiendish name because he bears international zoo identity number 666!
