ZSL London Zoo shows its stripes for excellent events.
On Wednesday 11th September, ZSL London Zoo opened its doors to over 250 event bookers for the Zoo’s first exclusive showcase and large-scale private viewing since the opening this summer of its superb new Terrace Restaurant and events space.
ZSL London Zoo is extremely proud of this £4.6 million refurbishment of the stunning Terrace Restaurant which has created a new event space for up to 600 guests. Housed in the historic Regent’s Building, it features a double height 40ft ceiling, is overlooked by a beautiful mezzanine level, and has an upper terrace deck designed to afford unique views across the Zoo.
The Terrace Restaurant was an ideal space for the event, displaying exhibition stands and providing a great setting for networking, the Events & Hospitality team were delighted to show its potential. Other spaces on show included the recently opened Tiger Territory, the ever-popular Penguin Beach and the vast outdoor space Barclay Court. There was also the opportunity to try a variety of delicious dishes from the award-winning onsite caterers Ampersand who have been in partnership with ZSL London Zoo since 2004. Dishes included Indonesian canapés in Tiger Territory and bowl food in The Terrace Restaurant including wild mushroom risotto, slow braised pork belly and a mini Christmas dinner.
Starting at 6pm, the three-hour special event was a wonderful showcase of ZSL London Zoo’s versatile and inspiring function spaces. Event bookers had drinks with the tigers, and retro ice-lollies while watching Penguin Beach Live! The Events & Hospitality team were on hand to show off the various event spaces and talk attendees through the packages available for both corporate and private events. Many visitors added a touch of animal to their outfits and staff joined in the fun with animal ear headbands. Of course the stars of the show were the Zoo’s animal residents, who came along to give guests a taste of the Animal Encounters ZSL London Zoo can offer to enhance events held there.
