Why attract butterflies & moths?

If you take steps to encourage butterflies and moths into your garden, you will end up with a double bonus: colourful butterflies and moths , and a beautiful garden. You will also be helping to compensate for the loss of habitat in the countryside. Many butterfly and moth species have declined in number, and gardens can provide valuable alternative sites for feeding, and, with the right plants, for breeding.

Why feed birds?

The most obvious benefit of feeding birds is simply the enjoyment their company can bring us. While birds will naturally visit any garden, adding feeders and different food stations will attract more species, from sparrows to blue tits, woodpeckers and other unique species, and many garden birders keep “bird lists” to track the different species they see right at their doorsteps. The colours, songs and behaviors that birds bring with them can all be enjoyed by dedicated garden birders, but there is much more to appreciate by feeding birds.
