Maracas and rattles are common to many cultures all over the world. They are traditionally made from hollow dried out gourds containing loose seeds.

Simply shaken to make a sound, often used to emphasize dance movement or as part as a
traditional ritual. Our carved maraca comes from Peru where it is lovingly decorated with pictures and patterns from local folk history, depicting animals and wildlife from times past and present.

Some are decorated with animal motifs from the Nazca lines.
