Decorative ocarinas are often made in the shape of animals with holes placed carefully into their bodies so that it can be played. Ocarinas are ceramic whistles from Peru in South America.

These ones are inspired by birds and animals in South American folklore.

Ocarinas are played like recorders, except that the hands are held next to each other instead of one over the other.
