Fieke Molenaar- ZSL Veterinary Officer
A happy childhood spent in Kenya amid elephants and giraffes inspired Fieke, originally from the Netherlands, to pursue a career working with wild animals. She graduated from the University of Ghent, Belgium, in 2001 and has subsequently worked in a primate centre, in small and large animal practice, as a wildlife veterinarian at the Institute of Zoology (ZSL) and as a freelance vet in zoo, wildlife and unusual pets. Fieke returned to ZSL in April 2013 as the main vet at Whipsnade Zoo, the perfect place for combining mainly large animal veterinary medicine and post-graduate student teaching.
Fieke has got an MSc in Wild Animal Health and a General Practitioners Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice. She is currently working towards her RCVS Diploma in Zoological Medicine (Mammalian).
Fieke is the Meetings Organiser of the British Veterinary Zoological Society, organising CPD for practitioners and researchers in the field of non-domestic animals, and a Council Member of the ZEBRA foundation, who fund research in the field of zoological medicine.
