A Cambridge vet graduate, Nic gained his MSc in Wild Animal Health from the RVC and the Institute of Zoology in 2005.

Subsequently he worked for International Zoo Veterinary Group for 5 years, providing primary care and specialist zoological medicine support to a variety of zoos and aquariums in the UK and Europe, and working on conservation medicine and rescue projects abroad.

This was a wonderful but demanding job and Nic left in 2010 to work on a series of projects including the Species Recovery Programme at ZSL and as a locum at the New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine at Auckland Zoo.

In 2012 he became the veterinary officer in ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, before promotion to Head of Veterinary Services in October same year.

Nic has roles on BIAZA and BVZS Councils and sits on the Elephant Welfare Group.
