Extra Mural Studies
The Zoological Society of London offters Extra Mural Studies (EMS) placements for veterinary undergraduates. Applications for the summer of 2009 have now closed.

© Claire CunninghamEach EMS placement is based on a three-week module. There is a total of four successive placements at both ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, giving a total of eight placements for the summer.
The placements offer a unique opportunity for a veterinary undergraduate to “see practice” with colleagues working full time in the field of zoo and wild animal medicine and pathology. In addition, during clinically quiet periods, the student will be expected to produce a short, written case report and to write up a project to present as an informal Powerpoint presentation during the last week of their placement.
To be eligible a student must be about to start their final year at a veterinary school by the time the placement starts and be committed to a complete three week period. The three-week periods for 2009 commence on the following dates June 29th, July 20th, August 10th and August 31st.
Please note that applications for summer 2009 placements have now closed. Details for summer 2010 placements will be updated later in the year.
