Emma Whitlock Veterinary Nurse ZSL Whipsnade Zoo
'I’m quite lucky,' says ZSL Whipsnade Zoo veterinary nurse Emma.
Emma completed her Veterinary nursing degree in 2003. She previously worked in a large mixed practice specialising in equine and exotics species before joining ZSL in 2004 as a locum for maternity cover at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo until she took up a full time position in 2005.
In addition to her general duties as a veterinary nurse Emma is involved with the training of the chimpanzees to facilitate veterinary treatment. The chimps have been trained to present their hands or shoulders through the bars for injection making treatment much easier and less traumatic for the chimps.
