Andrew Routh - Chief Veterinary Officer

Andrew's wildlife veterinary ambitions were fired by the work of Sir Peter Scott, Gerald Durrell and Sir David Attenborough.

Andrew RouthAndrew qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1981 from Liverpool University. After over a decade in general practice he joined to RSPCA as Veterinary Manager for one of their Wildlife Hospitals. Since 1998 he has worked with zoo and wild animals on four continents.

He is currently Chief Veterinary Officer for the Zoological Society of London. Additional duties involve in situ work with vultures in India. He teaches on the RVC MSc in Wild Animal Health and is an Honorary Lecturer in the RVC’s Department of Pathology and Infectious Diseases.
