Dame Vivien Duffield DBE has been awarded the ZSL Gold Medal in recognition of her, and her family’s, longstanding and continuing support of ZSL and ZSL London Zoo.

Dame Vivien is Chair of the Clore Duffield Foundation and this award acknowledges her personal support through her family foundation. This has followed on from the generosity of her father, the late Sir Charles Clore, who made two major gifts to London Zoo in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Clore donations have been instrumental in ensuring ZSL London Zoo remains a first class visitor attraction. They have funded new exhibits that have vastly improved the visitor experience by providing advanced viewing opportunities, state of the art enclosures and carefully designed spaces for animal husbandry.

As Chair of the Clore Duffield Foundation, Dame Vivien has been key to the continuation of this support in the form of the current £1 million donation towards the Clore redevelopment.

Dame Vivien has become one of ZSL’s most highly valued donors and we feel that it is appropriate to acknowledge her generosity and vision, as well as honouring her family’s contribution to the built environment at ZSL London Zoo through the award of ZSL’s prestigious Gold Medal.
