Bird Projects
ZSL has a number of important bird projects, from saving Indian vultures from rapid population declines to using the most innovative new techniques to monitor Antarctic penguins remotely.
This work has involved the birdkeeping expertise of ZSl London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo , the research of the Institute of Zoology and conservation action in the field.
Penguin Lifelines
Penguins are declining globally. The main suspects are climate change, fisheries, disease and pollution. ZSL is working to understand these threats in order to mitigate them. Find out more

Hihi Conservation
The hihi (or 'stitchbird') has become extinct from most of its former range in New Zealand. ZSL scientists are trying to understand why, and re-establishing a self-sustaining population.
