Animal Facts
It is the most widespread gazelle of the Sahara with populations still found right across the area. Like other desert ungulates if necessary they can obtain all the moisture they need from the plants they eat. They live in a wide range of group sizes depending on food availability. Larger groups usually contain both males and females but males have also been seen travelling in bachelor groups.
Where they live
Across Northern Africa to the rift valley in the Middle East.
Habitat
Deserts, grasslands and occasionally in rocky wadis such as in the Sinai.
What they eat
Grasses, acacia pods, leaves and blossoms.
