International Day of Biological Diversity

Today is the International Day for Biodiversity 2012, and ZSL is taking steps to mark the day with our Youth Conference at ZSL London Zoo. Seven London schools will be signing the Pledge for a Better Planet at ZSL London Zoo. The Pledge will be presented at the Rio +20 Earth Summit this year.
Though the theme for this year’s Rio convention is protection of marine habitats, taking stock of the state of biodiversity today, there is almost no ecosystem that has not suffered great losses. We hope that this pledge will help bring home a message to political leaders that we need to move quickly to protect the planet’s future.
