ITV1 documentary 'The Zoo'
Training tigers, breeding endangered seahorses, and hand-rearing baby penguins – it’s all in a day's work for staff at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).
Following the huge success of the first two series of The Zoo broadcast in 2010-12, ITV1 returned to ZSL in 2013 to once again give you a glimpse into life behind the scenes at the Society.
Staff at the Society, which runs ZSL London Zoo, Whipsnade Zoo, and undertakes science and conservation work in more than 50 countries, were followed by cameras for 5 months for the three hour-long episodes which were broadcast in summer 2013.
The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats.
ZSL's work spans two world class Zoo, a leading scientific institute and global conservation projects.
We use the income from our zoos to help fund our conservation programmes, but the zoos receive no central or local government funding towards their running costs.
