CHRISTIAN SLATER GIVES UP HIS JEANS TO HELP RHINOS!
Thursday 25 May 2006
Actor Christian Slater, who stars as maverick patient Randall P. McMurphy in the West End production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is giving up his jeans for Whipsnade Wild Animal Park’s rhino conservation appeal.
He and other cast members, including British actor Alex Kingston who plays McMurphy’s nemesis Nurse Ratched, are donating props from the production to raise awareness and much-needed funds to support rhino conservation.
Christian and other cast members will be meeting some of Whipsnade’s own Asian rhinos and will be available for interview on Tuesday 30th May 2006.

Notes to editors
- A pair of Christian’s autographed jeans plus a photo, poster and programme of the show signed by all the cast will go on auction on Ebay on Wednesday June 1 2006.
- There are five species of rhino, all of which are threatened with extinction in the wild. There are just over 500 Eastern Black Rhinos left in the wild, with about 430 of these in Kenya. Funding raised through the auction will support the EAZA campaign by funding updated monitoring equipment for 6 national parks in Kenya, to help efforts to manage and conserve their Black Rhino populations, and other ZSL rhino conservation work.
- Founded in 1826, the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international scientific, conservation and educational charity: our key role is the conservation of animals and their habitats. ZSL runs London Zoo and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, carries out scientific research in the Institute of Zoology and is actively involved in field conservation in other countries worldwide.
