Big noses are united as we celebrate the arrival of a baby anteater and offer other big nosed individuals free entrance to London Zoo.

Sauna and Bonito, our resident giant anteater couple, gave birth to a male offspring back in July. At just a foot in length, excluding his nose and an equally long tongue, the little fella is now ready to face the public.
To celebrate the occasion we’re offering people with above average honkers free entrance into the zoo on the weekend of the 13 and 14 August…just print off this 
Big Nose Day Voucher (147 KB) and come along with a full paying adult.
Young anteaters spend most of their time clinging on to their mother’s long shaggy coat and our baby anteater will ride on his mother’s back until he is about ten months old, when he will start to become more independent.
He will eventually grow to over a metre long (excluding a large, bushy tail which can be as long again) and stand at about 0.6 metres, weighing approximately 50kg.
© PAThe anteater’s birth is a major achievement for London Zoo, being the fifth offspring we have had here. These fascinating animals are increasingly threatened in the wild and Sauna and Bonito are the only successful breeding pair in the UK.
There are approximately 200 giant anteaters in the International breeding programme, which our new baby anteater will become a part of when he is fully grown.
