Information from the Attractions Gift Aid Liaison Group

Gift Aid for Charitable Attractions

Gift Aid is available to eligible Charitable Attractions that accept donations from visitors who are UK taxpayer, and provide free admission in return. The terms and conditions for eligibility under this scheme, first introduced in 2000, have been changed and new rules apply from April 2006.

In summary, these permit Gift Aid to be claimed for donations that are at least 10% more than the standard day ticket price, or for donations made for which annual passes/season tickets are granted. There are some possible exclusions and benefits may be offered within standard Gift Aid limits. It is extremely important to operate the arrangements within the rules. HM Revenue and Customs provide detailed guidance that is available.

Please visit the HM Revenue and Customs website for further information.

Charitable Attractions formed the Attractions Gift Aid Liaison Group (AGALG) to assist with the negotiation of new arrangements and their implementation. This group has agreed standard Branding and wording, for use in promotional notices and brochures, to introduce the scheme to visitors, and to raise public awareness. The objective is to build recognition of the request that visitors make Gift-Aidable donations, to ease the information process, and maximise the number of eligible visitors who participate.

The branding, standard Logos and wordings, and image files that are all freely available can be found here:
