In 2007, the Canadian Living Planet Report was published, which included population data from 228 vertebrate species within Canada. The report included a national index and disaggregation of the data set relevant for Canada, and was used as a tool to communicate trends in biodiversity and the Ecological Footprint of Canada, and gave recommendations to both policy makers and the general public on actions for the future.
