Agricultural expansion and logging are currently the greatest threats to the world’s terrestrial species and ecosystems. With increased demand for food, water and timber, the last remaining natural areas will be under increasing pressure. We need to identify ways in which we can increase agricultural productivity while better managing for biodiversity. We also need to develop economic systems where ecosystems such as forests are worth more standing, than cut down.
