Inland waters are home to an enormous diversity of species and also provide resources and ecological services that are essential to human well-being.
The freshwater LPI is used to measure overall trends in populations of 414 temperate (green) and 318 tropical (orange) freshwater vertebrate species. The global freshwater LPI is an aggregate of the two, and is also presented here (blue). Bars are 95% confidence limits.
