A striking array of antelope and gazelle used to inhabit the Sahelo-Saharan region, but hunting and habitat loss have taken a toll. ZSL is monitoring these species and repairing their decimated populations.

Saiga Antelope & Bactrian Camels
The Bactrian Camel is the ancestor of the millions of domesticated Bactrian camels, but fewer than 1000 wild Bactrians remain. The bizarre saiga antelope is also on the brink of extinction. Both are ZSL EDGE priority species.
