About Mongolia

Livestock
Mongolia’s vast and diverse landscape has been a refuge for a rich and unique assemblage of plants and animals. However, over the past two decades, a number of social and economic changes have resulted in the rapid and drastic population declines in many of Mongolia’s species.

Although the declines of some species have been relatively well documented, we know very little about the majority of Mongolian biodiversity, their conservation status, or the processes responsible for their declines.

ZSL works in collaboration with a number of Mongolian institutions and organizations, such as the National University of Mongolia, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the Wild Camel Protection Foundation, and the Wildlife Conservation Society, to learn more about these species and the issues that affect them, while trying to raise awareness of the issues faced by Mongolian species and implement the conservation measures required to help them.
