On your marks, get set, ant…GO!

Wednesday 7 July 2010

In a bid to raise money for conservation and celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity, a team of runners from the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) will be running the Asics British 10k dressed as…a food chain.

The team in costume ready for ZSL's biodiverCITY run

This coming Sunday, staff from ZSL will be setting off from Hyde Park dressed as a leaf, an ant and an anteater – all in the name of charity. Chasing each other around the route, the group are not aiming for record breaking times; but they are aiming to raise some cash.

Sprinter Lucy Cannock said: “We’re really looking forward to the run on Sunday, and we’re thrilled at the support we’ve received so far”.

“I think being dressed as a leaf with a giant ant chasing me will be a big incentive to get me across that finishing line!”

The trio have been hard at work training for their run and had a ‘dress rehearsal’ in the Zoo on Tuesday morning to get used to running in their costumes.

Helping to raise vital funds for the worldwide conservation work of the Zoological Society of London, the runners are hoping to raise £800 by taking part.
