Biota! An introduction

biota n. the animal and plant life of a particular region, habitat or geological period. Origin Greek biote – life.

Water covers two-thirds of the surface of the earth, and yet most people know little about the seas, rivers, lakes and shorelines of our planet.

The arrival of Biota! at Silvertown Quays in London will provide visitors with a chance to find out more about these aquatic habitats and how they are occupied by an astonishing array of plants and animals.

This exciting and unique project aims to combine a world class visitor attraction with a centre for education and conservation.
