The 2013 Thomas Henry Huxley Award and Marsh Prize
This is awarded annually for original work in zoology. The winner of the ZSL Thomas Henry Huxley Award and Marsh Prize receives a bronze medal, designed by Jonathan Kingdon, and a monetary prize of £1000, which is generously donated by the Marsh Christian Trust
The Award is open to postgraduate research students attending a university in Great Britain or Northern Ireland, on the basis of original work, which has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy during the period September 2012 to August 2013. To avoid difficulties arising from too rigid a schedule, theses will be accepted a month before or a month after these dates.
Heads of Department are requested to recommend one postgraduate research student whose thesis is considered to be outstanding.
A letter or recommendation, along with the thesis and a detailed report on the candidate’s work, should be sent to:

The following information should also be submitted:
- The candidate's current address
- The length of time over which the research was undertaken
- The names and addresses of the examiners, whom ZSL will approach for comments.
Recommendations must be received no later than 15 November 2013
The Council of ZSL request that the candidate should not be told of the recommendation.
The 2013 Thomas Henry Huxley Award and Marsh Prize will be presented to the winning student in June 2014. Theses will be returned to the departments when the Award is announced.
