Statement from the Zoological Society of London: London Zoo to shut on 9th April to mark Queen Mother's Funeral

As a mark of respect, following the death of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on Saturday 30 March 2002, London Zoo will be closed to the public on the day of the funeral, Tuesday 9 April 2002. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause
Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II has been Patron of the Zoological Society of London since 1952.
London Zoo is otherwise open as normal, closing at 5.30pm on Monday 8 April and re-opening at 10.00am on Wednesday 10 April.
Whipsnade Wild Animal Park will remain open.
