On 17 August, whilst the first official flight leaves for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games carrying some of Britain's athletes, Barclaycard will be bidding farewell and good luck to their Team 2000 Olympic debutantes with a photocall and press conference at London Zoo.
Dwain Chambers, 100m sprinter, and Dean Macey, Decathlete, are just two of 20 athletes attending the event. Other medal hopefuls include current World Judo Champion Graeme Randall, Britain's number one Modern Pentathlete, Kate Allenby, members of the rowing men's eight and women's hockey squad, as well as Britain's first Olympic trampolinist, Jaime Moore. London Zoo's baby emus will be testing the athletes' speed and agility before their trip 'down under'.
All athletes are members of Barclaycard Team 2000 - an elite group of athletes from a wide range of sports. Members of Barclaycard Team 2000 have received sponsorship of at least £20,000 over the last four years in the run up the Olympics. The athletes were identified by SportsAid, the Charity for Sport.
The photocall will be followed by a press conference in the Raffles Suite at 12.00, which could provide additional photo opportunities.
